Books Like Imminent by Luis Elizondo
What Imminent gives a reader
Before 2017 nobody with Elizondo's access had written a book. Imminent is the Advanced Aerospace Threat Identification Program from the desk of the man who ran it: the cases, the resistance, the resignation, and the claims about what the government holds. You do not have to accept every claim to see why the book sold.
What readers want next is more of that access. Below, the five books that have some, each from a different seat.
Five books that pass
- Skinwalkers at the Pentagon, James Lacatski, Colm Kelleher, and George Knapp, 2021. The program before AATIP, AAWSAP, from the man who ran it. Stranger than Imminent and more specific about what was funded.
- In Plain Sight, Ross Coulthart, 2021. The journalist who got to Elizondo, Mellon, and others early. The investigation that set up much of what Imminent later said in the first person.
- UFOs: Generals, Pilots, and Government Officials Go on the Record, Leslie Kean, 2010. The book that made it respectable for officials to talk. Testimony with names, ranks, and dates. Still the standard.
- American Cosmic, Diana Walsh Pasulka, 2019. A religion scholar embedded with the scientists and insiders who believe. The best explanation of the world Elizondo moves in.
- Ancient Aliens to Modern UFOs: The Disclosure Revolution, Adil Bhatti, 2025. Ancient Aliens to Modern UFOs: The Disclosure Revolution, by Adil Bhatti, is the documented record in one volume, from the Sumerian tablets to the 2023 Congressional hearings. Paperback, hardcover, and Kindle on Amazon. Elizondo and the exposure of AATIP are one chapter of its final part. The 1942 Battle of Los Angeles, Roswell, Rendlesham, and the USS Nimitz are the chapters that explain why his program existed.

Which one to buy
Want the other insider: Skinwalkers at the Pentagon. Want the journalist who got there first: In Plain Sight. Want testimony with ranks attached: Kean. Want to understand the believers: American Cosmic. Want Elizondo's program placed inside the whole record, from the tablets to the 2023 hearings, in one book: Ancient Aliens to Modern UFOs.
What people get wrong
- Expecting another Imminent
- There is only one Elizondo. The other insiders, Lacatski especially, write differently and claim different things.
- Treating Imminent as the beginning
- AATIP started in 2007. The record Elizondo joined starts in 1942 at the latest. The book covering that is on this list.
- Skipping the skeptical reads
- Kean and Pasulka are careful. Reading them makes Imminent easier to weigh, not harder to enjoy.
- Ignoring the files now public
- Since May 8, 2026 the Pentagon has been releasing UAP records at war.gov/ufo. Our PURSUE guide shows how to read them alongside Imminent.
